I was diagnosed with Stage-4 Pancreatic Cancer in August 2023. Before then, I had never been sick, nor did I experience any symptoms related to cancer. Even my oncologist, along with two other specialists, can't explain how I developed this cancer or why I didn’t experience typical side effects. After receiving 24 high-dose chemotherapy treatments, the only word they can use to describe my case is "rare," and honestly, I'm okay with that.

I discovered CanCare through my church’s website. Since reaching out, I’ve connected with two pancreatic cancer survivors. We regularly exchange texts and have phone conversations, which has been a great source of comfort. I also participate in CanCare’s bi-monthly support group Zoom calls, their Facebook group for Stage 4 patients, and their blog for pancreatic cancer patients. These resources have been incredibly helpful, and the other patients are open about their journeys and offer tremendous support. Even though many of CanCare's resources are virtual, the bonds that form between participants are strong.

To anyone thinking about seeking support from CanCare…. It’s been a blessing to take advantage of CanCare’s resources. But even more impactful has been the connection with other cancer patients I’ve met through CanCare. We share our journeys openly and candidly, creating a space of understanding and support. My success, to date, while an outlier tends to give others hope. CanCare allows me to share my testimony and experience with others.
