Bladder cancer survivor
I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in April 2004. At first, I was in a state of shock and disbelief. The first thought that came to my mind was that I was going to die. But after talking to my doctors and family, I started to feel hope. My faith in God gave me the strength to fight this terrible disease.
My neighbor who attends Grace Presbyterian Church gave me a CanCare brochure and told me that they had people who could help me during this difficult time. The volunteer I was matched with gave me more information than anyone else since my diagnosis. He had been through what I was starting to go through and also helped me understand the different stages I would experience. To me, CanCare means Hope and having a friend when you need it most. Each day is a gift that allows me to give strength and hope to others fighting cancer.
CanCare has been serving people with cancer since 1990. All services are confidential and free of charge. To talk to someone surviving your diagnosis, click here.
