How can this be? Stage IIIc ovarian cancer at 33? Although nauseous and weak, I found the strength to push through as I had two daughters counting on me to make it. I rang that bell on August 16, 2013, and later joined the staff of CanCare to help others. I am forever thankful for God’s love, grace, and healing power.

She has leveraged her degree in Finance and an MBA to assist the American Red Cross and Kids Meals to expand in scope and impact, and now provides bold leadership to make the CanCare mission even more impactful.

Janicca has 12+ years of fundraising, marketing and management experience in the nonprofit sector and holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wyoming (UW). Her career began at her alma mater where she oversaw donor marcom and launched a successful fundraising program for Student Affairs while also leading its parent program rebranding campaign. In 2011, Janicca moved to Houston and dove back into the nonprofit sector serving in fundraising leadership roles before joining CanCare to lead its fundraising efforts. Janicca serves on the Girls Inc. of Greater Houston Advisory Board and is a member of the Associated Fundraising Professionals Houston Chapter.

Specializing in caring ministry, Deborah has promoted the mission of CanCare since the 1990s. She has 30+ years of experience as a programs administrator, outreach nonprofit liaison, adult educator, leadership facilitator, curriculum designer, support groups specialist, and director of hospital visitation programs. She has a Masters of Divinity and a post graduate degree, TH.M., in historical theology.

She has worked in the areas of assisted living and hospice care for almost 15 years, using her degree in Recreational Administration with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation.
